The Grade 4 Camp

Two weeks ago we were at camp. first we went to Giraffe House and saw: meerkats, squirrels, alligators, giraffes, lamers, flamingos and a warthog. Then we had a we had a reptile show.

After that we went to the campsite by bus, we got into groups and we did activities, for example - the obstacle course, the mud swing, Aladdin stepping stones and the blind fold walk.that night we went on a night hike. We got lots of free time to go and play in the forest or play with our friends.

In the forest we had a fort building competition. I am allergic to their food so my mom packed me my own food.

Then one day we were playing in one of the forts and me and Micaela were speaking then Aidan asked what was on my head and it was a scary green WASP! I told Micaela and both of us ran, while we were running we heard Aidan scream, the wasp had stung him! Then Kian ran down to help Aidan but stepped on the nest then he was stung everywhere! after that Tyla went to call the teacher but was also stung on her neck! Mano was just about to get stung but he saw the wasp and swatted  it away, but Sebastian was stung!

That night Claire and I were talking and we saw a hornet nest in a tree, we got really scared and ran to tell our teacher, luckily, the hornets were asleep, so they had a chance to spray it.

After the wasps were removed we had the best camp ever!

My favourite part was the camp fire, we did a talent show around the fire, I recited a poem and sang a song called ''Giants in the sky'' from the musical into the woods

The next morning we packet our bags and ate breakfast, we got to play a bit more till the bus came to pick us up. that was a very fun camp and I will never forget it!

  1. Dear Alon,

Wow, it sounded like a very fun camp! I also went to the same campsite in Grade 4 and I really loved it.

My Dreadful Day at School

Hi, I’m Benny Adams, I had a dreadful day at school yesterday, probably the worst day I’ve ever had! A singing inspector came to hear us sing. He was an ugly young man, very strict, he wore large knickerbockers and had dark blue eyes like blueberries. His name was Mr. Raymond. When we entered the singing hall we all had to do the Doh Ray Me So Fah and tata tete things. Once we had done all our warm - ups, Mr. Raymond called Charles and I to stand in front and sing. I was petrified, I didn’t know about Charles but I could see he was shaking from the corner of my tearful eyes. Then Mr. Raymond called me “the long one” which I hated because that’s what everyone calls me, and then Charles was considered as “the short one” this made me angry but I tried to hide it. Mr. Raymond then asked us to sing, Charles looked at me as if to say “help!” We did not know a single song, I was getting even more terrified by now. Mr Raymond was now pointing his long oak wood stick at the modulato...

Poetry

Similes   I really enjoyed writing this simerly poem because I like learning about figures of speech so I can expand my vocabulary. Both of these poems were inspired by nature, I reaserched pictures of nature and these two came up along with other beautiful pictures but I chose these.   Metaphor   This is my metaphor poem that I wrote, I preferred writing the similes poem because it was easier finding things to compare.

First few weeks of Grade 5

I am really enjoying grade 5 in the Louries class so far, I'm very happy with my class and teacher. I like the fact that we do more math than we did in grade 4 because math is my favourite subject other than drama. This term is going very quickly because I am really enjoying it. The work is easier than grade 4 but there is more work to finish. We have the hottest class but we are very privileged to have a pool at the school that we swim in every Wednesday and sometimes on Fridays if it is really hot. I prefer that the class test are shorter and easier than last year when we used to do Cycle Tests. There is not as much homework than the previous years, I know this because my sister who is 12 was in Grade 5 at Elkanah House and she had more homework than I'm getting. Last week we all (whole of grade 5) went on school camp at High Africa Adventures in Worcester, it was really fun, we did loads of activities including a climbing wall, swimming in the river, watching a movie, da...
